PDC drill bits are mainly divided into three types: electroplated, sintered and brazed.
PDC bits can determine the bit matrix hardness based on rock hardness. Different rock hardnesses also have different PDC bit matrixes, and their footage speeds are also different:
1. If drilling in hard, hard, high-drillability, fissured, or broken rocks, drill bits and reamers with fine-grain surface setting or fine-grain impregnation should be used.
2. When drilling in medium-hard, low-drillability and homogeneous, complete rocks, drill bits and reamers with coarse-grained surface inlays or coarse-mesh impregnated inlays should be used.
3. When drilling in highly abrasive rocks, drill bits and reamers with hard matrix should be used.
4. When drilling in weakly abrasive rocks, drill bits and reamers with soft matrix should be used.
Due to different drill bit design methods, selecting appropriate PDC drill bits for different formations can achieve the highest economic benefits.
